We went without a big party this year. I wish I could be the type of mom that could handle one every year, cause well... you know it's special and all. But in my ripe old age, I am well aware of what I can enjoy every other year and what will make me crazy if I try and pull it off every year. I am OK with this. We had a small family "party" which really just meant 1 balloon, gifts sent from family and a cake. Fortunately, Claire is also OK with this, because she is 3 and she doesn't remember last week let alone last years party (We shall see how I pull this off with the soon to be 7 year old this year, eesh...its a word according to urban dictionary ) But Claire thought it was fabulous cause she even got to pick out the Mac&Cheese for dinner. Claire also reacted like I bought her a car when she opened her gift from me: a backpack with her school supplies for preschool. Other favorite gifts were some pants which she promptly smelled and exclaime
