The Zoo. Sometimes I feel redundant. We have a free day what should we do... the zoo. The weather is great what should we do... the zoo. We want to get out of the house what should we do... the zoo. But here is the thing. I grew up hours away from a terrible zoo, when I was a kid it was a HUGE ordeal to make it anywhere to see a zebra. There were serious sacrifices that my parents had too make to get us to see a mountain goat let alone 5 baby tigers, or graceful swimming hippos that comes right up to your nose. We are currently less then 10 minutes away from a FREE world class, AMAZING zoo. It is just as easy to go to the swing set at the park as it is to watch apes swinging from the treetops. I remember one day telling my mom we just got back from the zoo. And she just said "wow, you must be exhausted!" I didn't really even know what she was talking about. We had eaten lunch at our house, taken long naps and strolled over to see some penguins, then back before dinner. So maybe we are redundant, but the zoo is a pretty great place to be redundant.
This picture killed me. Charlotte is fixated on a little bug that is crawling on the fence.
Here's how it went down:
Me: Charlie look a big GIANT LEOPARD!!
Charlie: mama look it's a BLACK BUG!!!
Me: CHARLIE GIANT LEOPARD!!! BIG GIANT LEOPARD RIGHT THERE!!
Charlie: Look mama I can touch the black bug.
(perhaps these are the consequences of being too redundant with the zoo.)
A favorite family of ours...
So last summer when we were working on our yard and we were hailing junk from one place in the yard to another and then other junk back to that place, and we realized we needed a wheelbarrow. We went to home depot and right before we checked out Jacob spotted this wagon. Turns out wagons can be just as good for dragging junk around... AND they can also be good for carrying cute kids around the zoo on a beautiful spring day. Something even the best of wheelbarrows don't do well.
