Pool, here we come

This is the first summer that we have joined a pool. I am now wondering why it took us so long. Well not really I know why, but I am excited about the rest of this summer. And she is too!

Rib Fest

Jacob loves Rib Fest. Every summer St. Louis (although I am fairly certain this is not at all exclusive to the StL) has a Festival downtown. It has multiple (10-20) rib and all things pork vendors that set up their booths. You buy your tickets and then get to sample as many booths as you can afford. Few things make my husband more happy, than a large sampling of ribs. If fact as we can count we have only missed 1 rib fest in the 9 years we have lived in St. Louis. We took the metro (StL public rail) downtown which meant Charlotte was as happy as Jacob. She loves the train. Here she is singing "The Wheels on the Bus go round and round..." over and over. I am pretty sure the local commuters were just as amused.... maybe. The fresh french fries. She got to watch the lady cut the potatoes and put them in the fryer. The famous lemonade, which is actually just a large cup of sugar with a touch of ice, water and a squeeze of lemon. And then my mid-west-corn-fed girl, heard ...

my thumb sucker

We actually have an ultrasound of Charlotte sucking her thumb in utero. When she was born she never enjoyed the pacifier- she went directly to that left thumb. Everything that I have read about thumb sucking strictly warns against any power struggles with thumb sucking, it has to be the kids decision to stop.... or they wont... plus all kinds of long term psychological damage and whatever. So I have never said anything about it, but set it up about a year ago when she wanted her fingernails painted. "That would be fun Charlie! We could paint them bright pink. But you know... you cant suck your thumb if your nails are painted." Immediately she decided that she did NOT want them painted, not even for hot pink, hot pink with sparkles. So I have just been letting it ride. She will bring it up every once and a while out of the blue to myself or random strangers, "I can't paint my fingernails, cause I still suck my thumb." I know how badly she wants her nails...

Asian BBQ

May is crazy. I can barely keep up every year. Fortunately I have a wonderful friend that documented our fabulous evening last night, so instead of pretending that I could do a better job I am just going to link you to her sight. Thanks Amy for letting me pirate your site .
