our romantic evening

So a little Jacob and Lisa History 101. When we first started dating (over 10 years ago) I had a Chicago CD. I loved this CD, and by loved I mean listened to it nearly every night as I sang my heart out with tears streaming down my face... so I was really bummed when a friend borrowed it and lost it. Jacob and I were at Best Buy about a week later. He wanted to buy me the CD, and surprise me later. So naturally then the 19 year old boy in baggy jeans took the still unpurchased CD and hid it into his sleeve as he was walking around the store with me. Well of course the security cameras caught him and he had to explain himself to the Best Buy manager, the security officer and the girl that he had just started dating that he was not trying to shop lift the CD... the CD that was hidden in his clothes... hidden in his clothes not yet purchased. Eventually the manager believed him and I (being enamored) could only see that he was willing to do crazy things to make me happy. Fast forwa...

trouble in the neighborhood...

Baskin Robins just moved in 2 blocks from our house this summer (aka: within walking distance)... Charlie and I are in serious trouble! Charlie enjoying the strawberry banana (her new "bestest i cream")

A Fargo Wedding

Last weekend Jacob's cousin Larissa got married in Fargo, North Dakota. So at 6 pm we loaded up the car drove to Kansas City turned right and went north until dawn. Since my entire world view of Fargo only included snow, murders and pregnant police officers that say "don't ya' know"... I was VERY pleasantly surprised with a great weekend with the family. The wedding was beautiful, and Charlie of course had a great time. I hooked up with a hot usher. During the receiving line Charlie told the groom's mother, "I'm gonna eat cupcakes!" And cupcakes she did eat. Jacob (the hot usher) not to be confused with Usher the singer (uncle Bob) with his sister Abby and Papa. Charlie with her cousin Charlie with Grammy Charlie and more cousin's learning the Cha Cha with Jacob's 2 aunts Wanda and Carol. Who are quiet possible the most fun people whether you are under the age of 5 or not. During the dancing the kids were just outside the doors where t...

The Fargo fair

Before the wedding we had some time, so when there was talk of a magical place with piggies, rides and cheese curds we all headed to the Fargo fair. There were bunnies (giant bunnies that would bite little fingers off), and cute little tiny bunnies to pet as they wiggled their soft little pink noses. There was a petting zoo that had all kinds of hungry animals to feed. We of course had to feed each and everyone of them. This is Charlie and her Baba playing "Guess who made the stinky with the cow". And with her cousin Becca watching the horse show. And then there was the fair food. Ahhh... the glorious fair food. Fried, breaded cheese curds... only fair folk can make it glissin like this... so yummy! They also had rides. So we had to ride the ponies... both plastic and real. Couldn't really tell which one she like more. She was so serious when she was riding them, as if the slightest break in concentration would send the ponies galloping off with her. And believe me...

Summer has come

Since the first day we moved in our house 7 years ago I have wanted patio furniture. It just always kept getting pushed further and further down the "wish list". A "wish list" that seems to include things like brakes on a car, furnace in January... you know things that are just extra... So when World Market had this on clearance I pulled out my little "jar from under the bed" and bought it (note to any robbers out there, I don't actually have a jar of cash under my bed, please don't come and look- you will be disappointed). I love it. Every time I look at the umbrella it makes me happy. This evening we celebrated the coming of summer and our new table set with the Maynors, of whom Charlie adores. And look at them... who wouldn't!!! Then we made peach cobbler on the fire pit and had a wonderful evening with Susan and the boys. If you have never made it, you need to. Here is the recipe. 1 can of peaches in heavy syrup Bisquick mixed wi...
